BULL DOG EDITION BULL DOG EDITION BULLDOG EDITION
They weren't kidding yesterday when they ran that tease on the 45' Coaches.
When you drive over the 241 (Windy Ridge) Toll Road, you end up on the 91
at Green River in Yorba Linda. Off the freeway directly facing you is an unusual
setting nestled on the banks of the Santa Ana River. San Onofre on her best day
couldn't hold a candle to this place. Had you seen the Allied Artists production of
"Invasion of the Body Snatchers" you may recall the arrival of pods to snatch
human bodies transforming from giant pods right before your eyes. The pods
came to earth from outer space oozing life from a cabbage-like substance. Wait,
let's go back to the parks entrance. Drive your Coach through the pay-booth,
cough up $350.00 per day--PLUS--$175.00 for your pet. And, you don't sneak
pets in to save the 175. I guess when you pay $750,000.00 for your Coach. Turn
right until you reach the lush green meadow, your temporary headquarters. Back
in your 44 footer, do your checklist, let the pooch scamper in the plush
blades of grass. Ned Dougherty backs in beside you with his baggage Lois, and
their mangy animal, "Big Guy" a pathetic looking goat-hound. Ned, too, has a
44' foot Coach, with markings of Desert Storm, and a "=W= 42" political decal
stuck on the massive rear bumper. After Ned completes the high density hook
up, he disappeared into the 44 footer, never to be seen again. The rest of the
afternoon Coach after Coach arrives. They go though the same hook-up ritual,
tie the dog down, then evaporate into the Coach Module. The more I think, it's
a mix between "Close Encounters" and "Invasion of...." I can't wait to return to
San Onofre tomorrow to be with the "Real folk" and their camper vans and Pick
ups, and cab overs. God love ém all.
