THIS MORNING WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN OTHERS EXCEPT across the parking lot, through dense fog, came a caravan of old cars, hearses, pick-ups midnight blue with yellow, red, black, and orange, flames. Refurbished station wagons of the '50s, chokes extended to give them a full boat sound, and old boards crammed in the rear, Weber's, Velzy/Jacobs', Wardy's, Rick's, and Bing's.
They thundered up to the curb in front of the "Cup and Sinker"
scaring the tarnation out of the old timers. "Hey, old fellow, which way to San Onofre, we're lost," said one of the drivers,
"We're down from the South Bay, members of the "Double Deuce Danglers," he continued. Tex looked them up and down, thumbed them south and said, "Why you boys ask?" The boys were in their fifties, gray haired, some with pony-tail, others mustachioed.
"Surf safari to 'Nofre." Sounds good, said Tex. "When's the last time you were there," he asked. "The year old Barney tipped over," said one of the men. Tex went on to say they weren't
about to believe it, 'Nofre ain't the same as the early day, lot's of inlanders, kids, barking dogs, it's a real mess down there. "It figures, old timer, same as the South Bay, but we gotta' do what we gotta' do," the guy said. The baby-boomers got back into their kemps and got on their way. Joe Schnitzle said, "Aw, to be young again." Schnitzle is 84 years young.

FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I COULD NEVER FIGURE WHY NO HALL OF FAME.
San Onofre, so steeped in history, legacy, and generation
conscious, why the SOSC BOD refused to make public a Hall of Fame
for so many of their "Legends". San Clemente's "Cup and Sinker" asked their panel of older surfer's if they were on the BOD whom
would they select to be "Forever Entombed in the Shrine of SOSC Legend's Hall of Fame". Mr.Miyata offered free coffee, 2for1, mix'em or match'em sinkers, for all present to vote. The prestigious panel consisted of: Joe Blough,78, Nappy Schnabel, 64,
Larry Schnitzel, 70, Eugene McClean, 68, "Tex" Gleason, 70, Jerry O'Hair, 81, "Nuts" Grogen, 74, and Chief Thundercloud [RIP]. The voting went:
Terry Beard
Otto Blotto
Darryl Doggie
Waikiki Pete
Wino Joe

Congrat's, men, you are now members of SOSC's Hall of Fame.

MR.MIYATA HOSED OFF THE TABLE ON WHICH NINA DROPPED A PLUMB. When I arrived this morning things were back to normal, chattering seagulls swished over the strip mall, looking for discarded morsels to break their overnight fast. But things were not that rosy, Chief Thundercloud oldest of the regulars, up and died Sunday morning as he rose from his chair for a refill of his favorite java. The gang took it real good, they figured he was dead before he hit the patio. "Chief" was oldest of all historical surfers at age 93. Inside the "Cup and Sinker", Mr.Miyata had a photograph of "Chief" standing along side Mr.Kahanamoku circa 1926 at Oceanside CA. In honor of "Chief" the group will name their Koffee Klutch "Riders in the Sky". Well, after the annoying Mother's Day,it sure was nice returning to Mr.Miyata's in North San Clemente to "kick off" the week. Best thing of all there were no irritating, barking, unattended animals. I think next weekend TEAMBIGKOOK is going to the animal shelter and scream incessantly all day long.
