Including the parents, there were actually 18 Paskowitzes.
Not all of them consented to being in the film, so they were digitally removed from all film clips, pictures, movie posters, lobby cards, and any spoken or written reference. This is really a shame because a story about 18 people living in just 24 square feet is much more interesting than just 11:
There was of course the patriarch Dorian, known as "Doc,"
then Manny,
Moe,
and Jack,
then Larry,
Curley,
Curley Joe,
and Joe Devita,
then Ben,
Adam,
Hoss,
Little Joe,
and Hop Sing,
then Grumpy,
Happy,
Sneezy,
Bashful,
and Sleepy, the youngest one in curls,
There was no Dopey. That confusion arose when one of the children kept calling their pet clay pony Dopey because he had a hearing impairment and couldn’t correctly hear the pony’s name, which was Pokey. Doc solved this by rolling the pony into a ball and renaming the him Gumby.
The 7 Paskowitzes who declined to participate, in order to further distance themselves from the film, changed their names to:
Groucho,
Gummo,
Zeppo,
Chico,
Harpo,
Capatin Spaulding,
and Rufus Firefly.
GREEN: HOORAY FOR CAPTAIN SPAULDING, THE AFRICAN EXPLORER, WHO SAID I WAS A SCHNOORER, HOORAY, HOORAY, HOORAY....
